Shrek was a great set to work on, so interesting and colorful. I loved doing all the smaller set pieces! I actually got to work on the floor, the way scenic artists are supposed to! It was a lot of set but it turned out just great!

 Snow White and the Seven Endings Jan. 17-19 2024 This was another "Showcase" show. I did the design this time. It was a simple design and I used many of the pieces that we already had on hand from other shows. I used the trees again and we used the rocks that we always have in the shop.We did make the cottage new and I had to paint it in my own design using paint from previous shows. It was like working with a blank slate. I had an initial design for it, but it didn't work so well. The door had to fill the flat. We didn't have a short door. So I had to alter my design to fit the door we had. We just added onto the top of the flats to make a roof. Then I painted it. I didn't really have it totally designed, I just worked it out as I went.  At first I didn't like it and had to start again. I mixed the paint all over and started fresh and then I liked it much better.  I also started with the cottage standing up, but it was difficult reaching the top of the roof....

 Annie Jr.  Sept. 20/Oct 6, 2024 This was an exciting show to work on, with so much to do! As soon as the design came in I looked at and begin to think, "How am I going to do this?!" But we always work it out and that's part of the excitement! This design had many details that would have taken me so much time, but we decided to save time by having some of the things printed, like all the signs and the complicated wall paper. I did, however, do all the Annie comics on the portal wall that went across the stage myself, freehand. Which took me 4-5 days from start to finish! We don't have air conditioning in our shop so we suffered through the August heat finishing this set! But we got it finished! A shout out to our team who completed undercoats for me or I wouldn't have gotten finished on time. I did have most of the painting finished by the time we installed. I was then able to finish the Comic Portal Wall during the week of install.      References for Annie ...
