 Wizard of OZ

I was excited about doing Wizard of OZ. We followed the design as it came. Lots of blue. It came out nice. I enjoyed doing the OZ head the best and think it came out the best of everything.

I finished early, so I was able to help out with costumes. I've never painted clothing before, guess there's a first for everything! I've also  been tapped for props in this show since we were mostly using props that we already have in stock.

 Shrek May 2nd-18th 2025 Shrek was a great set to work on, so interesting and colorful. I loved doing all the smaller set pieces! I actually got to work on the floor, the way scenic artists are supposed to! Snow White and the Seven Endings

 Snow White and the Seven Endings Jan. 17-19 2024 This was another "Showcase" show. I did the design this time. It was a simple design and I used many of the pieces that we already had on hand from other shows. I used the trees again and we used the rocks that we always have in the shop.We did make the cottage new and I had to paint it in my own design using paint from previous shows. It was like working with a blank slate. I had an initial design for it, but it didn't work so well. The door had to fill the flat. We didn't have a short door. So I had to alter my design to fit the door we had. We just added onto the top of the flats to make a roof. Then I painted it. I didn't really have it totally designed, I just worked it out as I went.  At first I didn't like it and had to start again. I mixed the paint all over and started fresh and then I liked it much better.  I also started with the cottage standing up, but it was difficult reaching the top of the roof....

Mary Poppins Junior

Mary Poppins Junior  This is my second show with Town Hall Theater. I learned so much with my first show but even more with this show. I started with the design specs and as the pieces came to me I painted them. The rooftops and the city came first then the steps and then the furniture.       Here are the design plans that I had to work with. This is where I began figuring out how to attack this project! These pictures were taken after all the work was finished. Notice the paint splatters on them, they really got used!         The Beginning: Rooftops and Cityscape   And so it began with these rooftops and the cityscape to paint. I painted them black first and then added white. I painted the cityschape grey first and then added a variety of blues. Did most of this in the first week. I was so happy to have the nice painting space to work in! Although I had to do the cityscape on the stage it was too big for my space. Decided to paint everything...
